Our Pledge

    As a member of the Responsible Travel Advisors Collective, I acknowledge that travel advisors hold influence. The holidays we recommend shape economies, environments, wildlife welfare and the experiences of local communities around the world.

    Membership of this collective is a commitment, not a marketing exercise.

    I pledge to actively champion travel experiences, accommodations and tourism models that aim to create a more positive impact for destinations, people and the natural world.

    I will not knowingly promote, endorse or profit from experiences that exploit wildlife, including captive animal entertainment, unethical animal interactions or attractions where animal welfare is compromised for tourism.

    I will carefully consider the practices and values of the suppliers, partners and brands I choose to work with, and I will seek to avoid supporting businesses that continue to promote or profit from unethical wildlife attractions or persistently harmful tourism practices.

    I will not knowingly support tourism products or suppliers with significantly damaging environmental practices where more responsible alternatives exist, and I will remain willing to challenge long-established industry norms that place convenience or profit ahead of environmental and social responsibility.

    I recognise that responsible travel is an evolving area requiring continuous learning. I commit to ongoing education, training and engagement with responsible tourism issues so that my recommendations and business practices continue to develop in an informed and meaningful way.

    I understand that responsible travel requires critical thinking, honesty and accountability. I accept that no individual or business will achieve perfection, but I commit to making informed and conscientious decisions rather than convenient ones.

    I will communicate responsibly and truthfully, avoiding misleading environmental claims, superficial sustainability messaging or greenwashing in my marketing and recommendations.

    I also recognise that responsible travel extends beyond my business practices. I commit to approaching my own personal travel choices with the same care, curiosity and accountability that I encourage in others.

    I will seek to use my voice, platform and influence to encourage more thoughtful travel behaviours across the wider industry and amongst the clients I serve..

    By signing this pledge, I confirm that I share the values of this collective and accept that responsible travel should place equal importance on people, planet and ethical practice alongside commercial success.

    I understand that membership of the Responsible Travel Advisors Collective may be reviewed where actions or business practices consistently conflict with the principles of this pledge.
